Profile bio

About Mohammad Ullah

Development and production geologist with a strong technical and educational background (PhD in Sed/Strat) and proven experience working with teams across functions (Exploration, Appraisal, Reservoir Development). My greatest strength is Play fairway to prospect level deep technical analysis of the Sedimentology, Sequence stratigraphy, and reservoir/facies characterization of the shallow to deep marine reservoir. My mastery of sedimentology/stratigraphy, project leadership, cross-functional collaboration with team members, and ability to generate in-depth static reservoir descriptions integrating with dynamic scenarios have aided BP's internal decision-making on several well proposals. During my past nine years in BP, I have worked in six basins in both offshore and onshore US in a variety of roles. Recently, I have led a team in updating the Integrated Subsurface Descriptions (ISD) of several Mid and Upper Miocene reservoir intervals in the Na Kika area. Previously, I led a team working on a development plan for Mississippian Carbonate potential in the Williston Basin and was a key member of the team that assessed the potential of the Norphlet play in Eastern GoM, and Paleogene play in the Mad Dog field. I am skilled at interpreting seismic, well, and core data, Image logs; building structural, GDE, RDE & CRS maps; prospect identification and maturity (SOR and Technical appendix, D1- D5), risking, and volumetrics. I have a deep passion for teaching, coaching others, and influencing or developing new subsurface workflows. I am a trained Scrum Master and experienced in working in an Agile framework (Scrum, Kanban).

Listed skills include Geology, Petroleum Geology, Earth Science, Geological Mapping, and 15 others.

Effectively incorporated the ISD to the production/dynamic data to understand the HRIP of the undrilled infill segments.• Progressed several Mid Miocene opportunities to the Main plan and presented the technical work to the leadership.• Led the documentations of the ISD update, FM Technical Appendixes, SORs, and updated the subsurface descriptions in the BP online archive.• Worked closely with the NWD and PPFG team to optimize the well planning.• Led several Miocene core workshops; worked with the Biostrat team to update the upper and Mid Miocene biostrat framework.• Instructor of the BP internal 21C Stratigraphy and Reservoirs course; mentored team members in Na Kika and NWD team with the geological perspective of geophysics, RE and drilling.

Nov 2021 - Present

Geologist, Gulf Of Mexico Exploration, Bp Usa Inc., Houston, Usa

Bp

Houston, Texas, United States

• Discovered and matured six Tier 1 Jurassic Norphlet prospects in the Mississippi Canyon, Eastern GoM. Evaluated uncertainties and provided input to Risk Matrix for the proposed prospects and assessed the candidates for drilling or new lease acquisitions.• Interpreted OBN, FWI, and RTM 3D seismic and well data in Petrel to build structural, GDE, and CRS maps of the Norphlet Core area to generate a prospect inventory with the proper resource volume evaluation in GEOX.• Developed a depositional model for the Jurassic sequence in the Mississippi Canyon area to explain the Norphlet reservoir heterogeneity and to constrain the Norphlet charge access from the Smackover/Pre-salt source rock distributions and facies variability.• Interpreted and integrated geological and geophysical data to evaluate the Paleogene (Wilcox) hydrocarbon potentials in Central and Eastern Deepwater GoM, mature Wilcox prospects, and generate a prospect inventory to recommend drilling candidates. • Compiled and maintained databases to integrate all forms of subsurface information; outcrops, regional studies, biostratigraphy, satellite images, GOMSmart, wells, and seismic data, to determine prospectivity and exploration risk.• Provided and presented data and results as required to peers, management, partners, and governmental entities to get the technical endorsement of proposed options and lease sale/firm-in opportunities.

Jul 2019 - Oct 2021

Geologist, East Texas Development, Bp Usa Inc., Houston, Usa

Bp

Houston, Texas Area

• Planned and executed the drilling of 14 Haynesville Shale horizontal wells by coordinating with land, regulatory, drilling, reservoir engineering, and completion teams.• Performed real-time geosteering of multiple horizontal wells in a 24/7 operation to ensure proper wellbore placement within a narrow (30 foot) target window through monitoring and interpretation of data acquired while drilling.• Provided sed/strat support for coring and other rock-material data acquisition, subsurface interpretation, and reservoir modeling. Coordinated projects with other geologists and/ or project managers to answer key questions pertinent to reservoir characterization and/ or production. • Generated framework (structure and isopach maps) and prospect maps for various shallow formations (Midway Shale – Bexar Shale) in Haynesville Basin.• Worked on an overburden description project on shallow stratigraphy by integrating depositional elements with seismic facies and log signatures for direct input into the drilling program by identifying SWI/hazardous zones and productive zones.• Introduced the use of DDFE (drilling derived formation evaluation) derived geo-mechanical data and synthetic logs to assist in geosteering in ETX. Collaborated with the completion team to understand the geomechanics and optimum completions of the Haynesville wells by comparing DDFE stress profiles to the actual frac performance.

Jan 2018 - Jun 2019

Geologist, Mid-Continent Development, Bp Usa Inc., Houston, Usa

Bp

Houston, Texas Area
