In my employment law practice, I represent employers in all areas of employment law, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Minnesota Human Rights Act, and other federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as employment related claims, contract issues, common law claims, and non-compete and non-solicitations issues. I litigate employment cases through trial in state and federal courts and arbitration, and various state and federal agencies, including the EEOC, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, the Department of Labor, and other state and local agencies. In addition, I lead dispute resolution efforts relating to claims and potential claims through mediation, settlement conference, and direct negotiations with opposing counsel and self-represented parties. I also counsel employers - including for-profit and not-for-profit entities - across a broad spectrum of industries concerning employment issues, including hiring, termination, reductions in force, employee discipline, requests for accommodations, discrimination and harassment, retaliation, investigations, responses to employee complaints, wage and hour issues, alcohol and drug testing, leave requests, restrictive covenants, contract issues, workplace policies, and other issues that arise in the employment relationship. In addition, I write employment related agreements and policies, including employment contracts, restrictive covenants, severance agreements, employment policies, and employment handbooks. In my commercial litigation practice, I represent and defend businesses and individuals in various business disputes alleging breach of contract, negligence, and numerous state and federal statutory claims.Since 2015, I have been designated as a Board Certified Labor and Employment Law Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association. In addition, I was identified as a Rising Star by Minnesota Super Lawyers magazine from 2007 through 2018, and a Super Lawyer from 2019 to the present.
