Assist general education teachers with implementing their student's IEP's and working with them to provide student accommodations. Classroom Assistant/Tutor
I was placed in this position under my Macomb Community College work study opportunity. I worked there one full day a week for 4 months. I did pull out, to work with small groups for kindergarten working with students on letter concepts and word recognition. I assisted the kindergarten teacher during her instructional time sitting with a particular student who needed one-on-one attention to stay focused through out the day. In this school I had my first experience in a classroom for cross categorical special education students. I acted as a paraprofessional while I worked along side the classroom para and special education teacher to assist with instruction, and discipline. There were three students, one on the autistic spectrum with EI certification, one severe EI, and mild EI with some LD.
