Teacher of Self Contained Level Classroom.

Teach students of many ability levels using specifically designed instruction. Collaborate with multiple teachers and administrators for MTSS and planning. Assist general education teachers with implementing their student's IEP's and working with them to provide student accommodations. Create and maintain a record of services which I provide to students. Create and maintain data collection for reporting to IEP's and progress reports by progress monitoring. Design schedules for small groups and co teaching. Attend teacher professional learning community meetings (PLC's). Communicate with parents and assist them in any way that is possible for helping their child learn. Attend professional development and teacher workshops throughout the school year to work on professional growth. Curriculums used were Eureka math, and Benchmark Advance for ELA.

Using the resource room I use the pull-out model to give students an individual learning experience where I focus on identifying specific academic needs and choosing effective activities, lessons, and assessments to encourage their success in the classroom. I work alongside the students general education teachers as a part of the team that seeks appropriate learning avenues for students who are displaying academic struggles in one or more areas over a period of time.

Population: Moderate cognitive impaired 10th, 11th, 12th gradeTaught lessons in all subject areas, implemented classroom management techniques, responsible for teaching duties for that assignment, designed and taught an original two week unit, participated in professional development, assisted students in writing program, assisted with classroom greenhouse project. Taught morning calendar, life skills, assisted in creating menus for weekly shopping trip, created and taught math and science lessons.

I was placed in this position under my Macomb Community College work study opportunity. I worked there one full day a week for 4 months. I did pull out, to work with small groups for kindergarten working with students on letter concepts and word recognition. I assisted the kindergarten teacher during her instructional time sitting with a particular student who needed one-on-one attention to stay focused through out the day. In this school I had my first experience in a classroom for cross categorical special education students. I acted as a paraprofessional while I worked along side the classroom para and special education teacher to assist with instruction, and discipline. There were three students, one on the autistic spectrum with EI certification, one severe EI, and mild EI with some LD.
