I am a dedicated professional in student services with experiences providing student support in K-12 and Higher Education settings. I have spent years within the classroom as a secondary special education teacher and as a community based service provider for youth in foster care and adverse life experiences. My education in criminal justice and sociology, psychology, and human services counseling prompted me to pursue coursework in School Psychology. As such, I draw interest in disrupting how marginalized students are permeated in special education and pushed out of schools; focuses on utilizing culturally-responsive interventions in counseling and discipline; and strives to improve postsecondary outcomes for students with disabilities. I also serve as a subject matter expert in childhood trauma, adverse life experiences, and K-12 school-based evidenced-based interventions to the Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety (VCSCS), located within the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
