I work within the Violence, Vulnerability and Exploitation and Edge of Care service to engage and provide targeted interventions to a caseload of young people and their families who are entrenched in and/or are at risk of Child Criminal and/or Sexual Exploitation and Contextual Safeguarding concerns by providing them with assistance and support in engaging with education, employment, training, positive activities and support services within Haringey. I contribute to or undertake assessments using various tools, provide advice and information to professionals about resources and services that are available to young people and their families in relation to youth violence, gang disruption, prevention and other associated issues.

My role at Tutelage Care Group involved working with children and young people aged 11-17 who have been placed into care for a wide range of reasons. The main responsibilities that I held included key working with the children/young people via 1-2-1 support, creating individual support plans for the young people, preparing reports for review meetings, evidencing outcomes, and managing challenging behaviour in line with policies and procedures of the company.

At my placement I worked directly with young people aged 10-18 where there were concerns around being at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), trafficking and modern slavery. I also worked with young people at risk of coming into local authority care, including 16/17 year olds who are at risk of homelessness. The key aims of the team were to assess risk and provide robust safeguarding to young people. Also to work with young people and their families to prevent the need for them to come into Local Authority care.

In the Prevention team I was responsible for providing a high-quality service to children and their families while also implementing the signs of safety practise framework alongside my colleagues. Additionally, I supported the delivery of universal provisions in the evening at a local youth centre to young people aged 10-19. I also formulated and implemented whole family support plans in partnership which children and young people, their families and other relevant agencies based on assessments put in place. The role included taking responsibility for managing an individual caseload and maintaining up to date electronic records and developing and maintaining strong community relationships with external stakeholders such as schools, colleges, and youth networks within the borough of Haringey.

Within my role at Haringey Community Gold, I worked with young people from the London Borough of Haringey aged 11 to 25. I supported and facilitated the appropriate referrals for young people and their families to access available services across the statutory and voluntary sector partners. Myself and my colleagues partook in multi-agency working via delivering activities, interventions via multi agency working and plans where appropriate, alongside offering proposed solutions where appropriate. In this role I also delivered community safety interventions both in groups and individuals within the community. In addition to everything mentioned, I also handled minor reporting for our funders and offered mentoring services to the young people we work with.

My role at YMCA Walthamstow consisted of managing the Youth department at service at this site. Within this role I manage the Youth Work team lead the development of youth activities and coordinate a volunteers’ programme.
