Technology is great! Technology is a cornerstone of modern society and it's not going anywhere. From my earliest days, technology has been an influential part of my life. I was fascinated by computers and wondered what kind of magic made it all work. It was obvious to me that no matter what direction I chose, technology would be at the center of my career path. For these reasons, it's no surprise that I ended up a computer science major.Not long into my time in the professional world, I learned two very important things; technology can fail when you need it most and communication is key.This has led to some challenging situations, like having thousands of people in an online meeting relying on me to keep their meeting going. However, I have found that I enjoy being inventive and coming up with new solutions to emerging issues. But perhaps the most rewarding part of these unplanned moments is the interactions you have with those involved. Whether it's working side by side with colleagues to solve a problem or hearing the sigh of relief and genuine gratitude from someone you've helped, I think my favorite part is the people.When I found this passion for working with people, I did what was only natural; became a manager! My time as a manager was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. During my tenure, I learned that it pays to invest in your colleagues. There's no feeling better than helping someone achieve their goals. Of course, being a manager comes with its own set of challenges. I had to learn to leverage my problem solving skills to come up with solutions for people, rather than machines.And while technology took a back seat for a little while, I'm ready to see what else is out there. The current problems I want to help solve involve both people AND technology. It is my current goal to build a strong knowledge base for starting a career in cybersecurity. Technology has given me the opportunity to work with people across the world.
