As the Head of the Knowledge Exchange, I look for innovative ways to help our clients use research and knowledge sharing to improve what they do. I manage a team dedicated to creating and curating content - covering the whole digital communications mix, from social media to infographics to in-depth research briefings and white papers. Key clients included Skoda UK, Freeview, UK Coaching.Providing strategic leadership to the team, I work to ensure that our services meet our clients' needs and manage relationships with our partners. Idox Information Solutions focuses on information management, online publishing, software and website development, library information services and training. It has offices in Manchester, Glasgow, London and the Netherlands.Responsibilities include:- planning and implementing improvements to the Idox Information Service, the best source of evidence and research for the public sector in the UK.- market research and competitor analysis- liaison with sales and marketing teams- proactive business development activities, including tender and proposal writing- project management of a portfolio of information management, research and web/database development projects- Creation and mobilisation of a new Information Service, contracted by the Greater London Authority. My role was to manage and execute internal change to meet the requirements of delivering the new service. Activities included specification and implementation of all elements of the service (document delivery, enquiry service, serials, acquisition, current awareness services).- Project manager for the ongoing delivery of the contract, including performance monitoring and quality assurance of the GLA Information Service- Bid development for commissioned projects for Scottish Enterprise and Skills Development Scotland- Primary research for the Marine Alliance for Science & Technology for Scotland: conducting face-to-face interviews with academics across Scotland on resource expertise, followed by data collation. The final database was incorporated into a new MASTS web portal, built by Idox.

Main responsibilities:• Information project management, including project initiation, requirements gathering, specification, and testing. Also account management of projects.• Project managed a portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time and to budget. Project size ranged from £10,000 to £750,000.• Matrix management of multi-disciplinary teams of staff including information architects, researchers, librarians, technical developers and web designers.• Income generation through business development activity, specifically: identifying tender opportunities and preparing bids, through the stages of EOI, PQQ, ITT and pitches.- Prince2 project management accredited (Practitioner level)- Editor - Intelligence Briefing for the UK Commission for Employment and Skills- Editor - Research Round-up for Education Scotland- Project management of the development of a web portal for the UK Forestry Industries, focused on the rendering of statistical data in a range of graphic formats- Taxonomy development - European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions; and the UK Commission for Employment and Skills- Managed the resourcing and QA of research outputs commissioned under the Audit Commission’s Policy & Research Framework

Main responsibilities:• To undertake and provide a range of library and information services and support customers in making effective use of the service. Tasks included enquiry work, cataloguing, abstracting, and stock selection.• Undertake information project work and research as required.- Content Manager for the government’s Renewal.net regeneration website and the Neighbourhood Management National Network website.- Member of the NHS Scotland Health Inequalities Database Working Group (2005), which involved facilitating stakeholder focus groups and responsibility for developing a health inequalities thesaurus.- Project manager and editor of the ‘Dictionary of Scottish Regeneration Terms’, commissioned by the Scottish Centre for Regeneration.- Other project-work including: editorial work for the Urban Regeneration in Britain directory; desk research and database population for RegenWM project on community development organisations; desk research for a project identifying success factors in learning networks; E-prospectus database project for the Government Office of Yorkshire and the Humber.
