I am the Principal Research Scientist at VISIMO where I propose, supervise, and develop data science and machine learning projects for both industry clients and public sector agencies such as NASA, USDA, EPA, DOE, and the DoD. In these projects, I develop and deploy a wide array of techniques such as computer vision and natural language processing machine learning models; Monte Carlo, maximum likelihood, and other statistical methods; and parallel and GPU-enabled computing routines in Python and Julia. My graduate research focused on the smallest class of galaxies: the Dwarf Spheroidal satellites of the Milky Way. I used statistical techniques and data simulation to develop new models for their light distribution and used those models to test theories of dark matter and modified gravity, I also enjoy astronomy outreach and pedagogy; I am a planetarium presenter at the Carnegie Science Center and I have 7+ years of experience as a Teaching Assistant for upper-level, non-major, and laboratory physics courses at Carnegie Mellon University. My team participated in the 2019 Steel City Improv Festival• I volunteer at the Animal Friends shelter, where I am a rabbit and level 2 dog handler.
