Our Mission-The Mountain Bureau, LLC is new, Seattle-based boutique mountain guiding service that takes pride in offering professionally-supervised climbing and skiing opportunities for all skill levels. We offer trips domestically and world-wide, in the most classic venues. We focus on the client’s goals and progression in the terrain they wish to experience. The Mountain Bureau can take clients desires to experience a specific mountain range, peak, or route and then work together to design the perfect tour. Whether just beginning to explore the mountains, or building on years of experience, we take guests to the next level. All Mountain Bureau LLC guides are licensed and certified in the mountain discipline they practice. This ensures a safe experience with dedicated professionals. We are also the only service to brand “fair-trade” guiding in the US. We are proud to offer the best products for our clients and our staff. Our Products- We are proud to offer exclusive, high-end products largely unavailable with other guide companies. Our services are primarily low-ratio, private experiences tailored to your specific goals and objectives. This allows us to manage clients in more challenging terrain. For example, our alpine climbing programs are focusing on one and two client climbs of classic objectives in the style of modern-alpinism. Our ski programs have a mountaineering element only possible with skilled professionals and capable, well-screened clientele. We do indeed instruct beginners from the ground up, but we focus on providing products for the avid recreationalist that values credentialed guides.

Professional Alpine Guide in the Mount Rainer National Park taking groups of 9 at a 2:1 ratio up the D.C., Kautz, Emmons, and Liberty Ridge Routes on 2-4 day climbs. Mark has also been Lead Guide for Himalayan Expeditions arranged by Erik Simmonson and Ouray, CO and St Ellias AK based trips for George Dunn.

In the winter months we conduct avalanche courses, backcountry skiing hut trips, and ski mountaineering, ice climbing in The San Juan Moutanins of Southwest Colorado. Our hut program is one of a kind in the lower 48 and we have one of the largest public avalache education programs in the country.

Here we provide first aid and rescue services to skiers and participants of other snow sports, either at a ski area or in a backcountry setting. Patrollers are trained with the first aid necessary to stabilize and transport casualties to advanced care, Due to the remote location and terrain, transportation is often limited to toboggan, snowmobile and helicopter. Patrollers are well versed in avalanche search and rescue and other specialized techniques (e.g., chairlift evacuation). Patrols work to promote ski safety, enforce area policies and help injured skiers when necessary. At the end of the day they also conduct a sweep clearing the mountain for off-hours.

We provide the logistic support and safety backup needed for climbing groups and clients to Vinson Massif and Antarctica's highest peaks, expeditions to the South Pole and flights to Antarctica. Following the purchase of the pioneering commercial Antarctic tour-operator Adventure Network International, ALE is now the only organization offering expedition support and tours to the interior of Antarctica.

For 32 years, AAI has focused to help climbers raise their skills in the various styles in which they climb. AAI helps to develop good judgment, and safely gain access to the great mountains of the world on public higher ratio trips. Though the Institute is especially well known for its advanced training and expeditions, its international reputation is based on its dedication to teaching (at all skill levels to beginners).
