Dr. Michael Edwards is a veterinary Radiology resident at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. He recently completed his Ph.D. in Immunology at Virginia Tech studying the relationship betwen estrogenic endocrine disrupting chemical exposure, immune system modulation, autoimmune disease, and sex differences in CD4+ T cell response to stimulation. He has 2.5 years of primary care veterinary experience as a primary care clinical practitioner in Virginia and North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry at Longwood University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Edwards currently investigates MRI DTI metrics in relation to spinal cord injury and prognostic indicators, as well as ultrasound-guided high-intensity-focused ultrasound tissue ablation in cancer models. He enjoys supporting and educating colleagues, and providing a veterinary perspective to biomedical-based scientific inquiries. During Dr. Edwards’ tenure as a veterinary practitioner, he was passionate about training team members and improving client education and satisfaction to provide the highest quality medical care to his patients.
