He is also ​​a member of the C100, ​the Business Council of Canada, a G7/ML7 Fellow of the Creative Destruction Lab​,​ and a Board member for the Vector Institute​ for Artificial Intelligence. ​In 2020 he was awarded the prestigious Region Builder Award by The Toronto Board of Trade. He holds a BSc in engineering physics from Queen’s University and an MSc in industrial engineering from the University of Toronto.As a high school student, Michael developed a quantum cryptography system and a high-temperature superconductor propulsion system that won Gold at the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair. Michael has won numerous other awards, sponsorships and jobs from NASA, Rockwell Aerospace and Intel.

This experience was mostly a turnaround, recapitalizing and rebuilding an early stage, public technology company. Over a thousand layoffs, products EOL'd, offices shutdown, managing through DOJ/SEC investigations, NASDAQ delistings, telecom crash...and raising over 100 million in private equity. We got back to profitability and eventually, after I left, the company was taken private by majority shareholders.
