Managing Partner Rail X Logistics provides railroad Logistics, Management, Training, and Consulting services to Energy and Rail Transportation companies. Additionally, Rail X Logistics provides expert commercial, technical, and operational consultation and due diligence to sell side and buy side rail transactions.

• Responsible for supervising, planning, and execution of all commodity based unit train operations on the entire CSX network. • Managed operations and logistics staff of 3 Directors, 8 Coal Expediters, 4 Bulk Managers, and 7 Coordinators that produced 25% of CSX’s $12B in sales revenue. • Implemented systems and processes to improve efficiencies and decrease cycle times for system and private fleet. • Designed service plans with coal producers and utility receivers to increase train size between 120 and 170 cars resulting in record productivity goals. • Selected by senior management to participate in several technology projects as a technical expert and key stakeholder.

• Responsible for operation and execution of a safe, efficient, and cost effective train plan; including all strategic and tactical decisions related to train movements. • Direct supervision of 3 Directors, 1 Chief Train Dispatcher, and 32 Train Dispatchers and indirect supervision of 2285 miles of track, 1 hump yard, and 12 flat switch yards. • Developed procedures for train dispatchers and managers on company safety practices, rules compliance, regulatory compliance, and train performance.

• Responsible for all aspects of Train Dispatching for 7 of the 10 operating Divisions.• Developed safety programs and procedures for Network Operations. • Implemented a process that reduced monthly overtime from $1.2M to $8K. • Led $100M company plan to decentralize all train dispatching functions to field locations, which include extensive negotiations with the company’s labor organizations and senior leadership.

• Responsible for developing and maintaining annual work grid for the companies 8 major tie installation units, 2 major rail installation units, and 7 curve patch teams to ensure resources were used efficiently to complete $1B capital spending projects. • Collaborated with Service Design, Engineering, and Operating Divisions to develop weekly train plans and day to day execution of each team. • Wrote signal suspension, out of service, and in-service bulletins to develop safe methods of operation, in compliance with company and federal guidelines

• Responsible for the on-time origination, arrival, and performance of companies Intermodal and Automotive trains. • Formulated tactical plans with Terminals and Operating Divisions to overcome barriers and constraints to on-time performance and reduce UPS sort failures. Zero sort failures during holiday peak season.

• Responsible for managing and coordinating organizational efforts to ensure performance and quality improvement programs were developed and managed using a data-driven focus that set priorities for improvements and aligned to strategic goals. • Completed 12-month curriculum to become certified as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. • Managed and trained 4 Six Sigma Black Belts to completion of productivity projects resulting in more than $4M in savings• Selected by Senior Management to lead the Midwest Region in developing the “CSX One Plan”, which restructured the entire company’s procedures for building, blocking, and moving trains.

Completed training and projects to obtain Six Sigma Black Belt and Master Black Belt certification. The position used Six Sigma, Lean, and project management methodologies to identify and complete process improvement projects that supported substantive and sustainable improvements in both efficiency and effectiveness.

Accountable for the supervision of operating a safe and cost effective train operations and execution on the Florence Division; which included, strategic and tactical decision making, development of an operational plan that ensured performance metrics were exceeded, customer expectations were met, and equipment utilization was maximized. Responsible for line of road and terminal engineering curfews and capacity projects were completed on time. Responsible for developing safety plans, compliance to all FRA and State laws, LOR, terminal, and operation center budgets were met, working with labor organizations.

Supervised train dispatchers and assistant chief train dispatchers to coordinate the execution and implementation of safe train operations, crew balancing, and system and division curfews. I was responsible for coordinating line of road switching for local and through freight service, filling train dispatcher vacancies. The position also required a thorough understanding of UTU, BLE, and ATDA collective bargaining agreements, and division budgets.

Worked at field locations in Richmond, VA; Savannah, GA; Grand Rapids, MI; and, Jacksonville, FL. The position is responsible for directing and coordinating the safe movement of trains, issuing track authorities, and communicating with all levels of employees on the division and network level. The skills required to work the position include: extensive knowledge of subdivision characteristics, CADS, method of operations, operating rules, safety rules, and federal and state regulations.

Worked various railroad clerical positions on the Seaboard Coastline Railroad, Chessie System Railroad, and CSX Railroad at Petersburg, VA, Richmond, VA, and Wilmington, NC. These positions include various positions in crew management, customer service and terminal operations. .
