The company has petabytes of data and has been doing data science at web-scale since 2008.I led data engineering, data management, & platform architecture for the company's multi-petabyte, Hadoop-based data lake. Highlights include: - Spearheaded efforts to democratize data access & create a vibrant self-serve Data Platform community; over a 12-month period, organically grew Hadoop users 4x & yielded tangible financial gains- Developed an enterprise data warehousing architecture in Hadoop that enabled the deprecation of a legacy Teradata data warehouse and enabled new insights into customer demographics & behavior; presented at Hadoop Summit 2015 on this design pattern- Developed data pipeline frameworks that enable CI/CD, automate egress & data quality tests, and dramatically reduce development time (6 weeks & 150k lines => 6 hours & 3k lines)- 1 of 10 inaugural recipients (of 4500+ employees) to receive the Going the Distance award: "These folks go the distance every day for their team, customers, and for themselves by constantly growing in their role and making a real difference to GoDaddy. Database Engineer :: PersonalizationGodaddy Jul 2007 - Dec 2009Tempe, Az, UsI was the sole database developer supporting our traffic, messaging, and personalization teams. I redesigned the traffic database to support increased website activity during the 2009 Super Bowl. This database reached 27,000+ transactions per second during the airing of our company's Super Bowl ad. At the time, it was the highest TPS for a SQL Server database in the world. And it was accomplished using commodity hardware.I also developed a patented rules-based recommendation engine with online A/B split testing to personalize email messages.
