Optimization of C- shaped warm Iron Yoke:o To achieve the required field quality, the we optimize pole profile using singular value decomposition (SVD) method.o Magnetic field analysis is performed using OPERA 2D.o SVD method is used for the first time to optimize the pole profile of C-shaped iron yoke.Characterization of MgB2 conductor o Characterization of multifilament MgB2 wires developed by Hitachi, Columbus and Hyper-tech are performed at RT, 77 K, and 4.2 K (under external magnetic field) to test the feasibility of MgB2 conductor for transmission line magnet system.

Design and testing for variable temperature insert (VTI)o VTI for cryogen free magnet system was designed and developed with temperature variation from 4.2 K to 300 K and sample space of 25mmo 2 stage GM cryocooler (CCR) was used to cool down the helical coil heat exchangers.o Stable 4.2 K sample space temperature achieved in 15 hours, and sample temperature was controlled using by variation in GHe flowrate and sample heater.
