Considering one single success factor: we must be Essentials.Some paths to get there, if I may suggest, are:- Build an innovative team:Create and conduct a mission to increase the manager’s capacity to identify and develop talents. Start with the most critical item: define what a talent is. Meet and interview the ones that possess such talent on a regular basis, It doesn't matter how many they are.- Make them trusted advisories:Lead them through their capabilities, providing competences, which will be validated with certifications (not only the technical ones). Define a major plan for each team member where they will be exposed to new projects and assure that the managers will be with them.- Anticipate and communicate the future of the business:Establish the best governance ever seen. Invite the talents to build a roadmap with the leadership team. Invest the team’s time to be alongside them instead of (rather than) participating in long meetings and/or just sending emails.- Show the results:Metrics are good and it is important to manage, but it is important to understand that it provides directions, not judgments. At the end, or you explain or you will be congratulated.- Celebrate whenever possible:We are humans and that's one of the main reasons to work.
