Education Support And Quality Manager, Faculty Of ScienceUnswSydney, Nsw, Au -
Curriculum Quality OfficerMacquarie University Nov 2021 - PresentSydney, New South Wales, AustraliaMacquarie University is improving and standardising its approach to course (degree, program) and unit (subject) approval, reaccreditation, revision etc. processes, systems and support. This is to not only align with the TEQSA Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards), but is also an opportunity for Macquarie to go beyond the minimum standards and become industry leaders with a comprehensive service-oriented focus and delivery of quality assurance measures for our university. My role in the first instance is to plan and execute course reaccreditations including Course Authority support and Review Panel organisation and execution, this is where every course (degree, program) is reviewed in its entirety once every seven years. I then work with MQ faculties to turn panel recommendations into actions and guide through the approval process that supports the implementation of those recommendations. 2022 is the first year of organising course reviews this way and once that new way of operating is fully embedded and automated as much as possible, I will turn my head to other quality assurance activities like less intensive but more frequent unit (subject) and course (degree, program) quality assurance activities, and mastering our curriculum-based CMS.I also contribute to system development, collection and analysis of data, process improvement and leading my colleagues through change. -

Temporary Phd Program Administrator, Ucl LawsUcl Jan 2015 - Apr 2015Bentham House, Russell Square, London, United KingdomUCL is one of the most well-known and prestigious universities in London. I worked here, in the Faculty of Laws, on a temporary basis whilst looking for a permanent role. During my time as PhD Program Administrator I was the central liaison point between the 80+ students who were sitting for a PhD, and the Faculty and University as a whole. My day to day tasks mainly consisted of processing grants and stipends to students in their research phase, tracking program progression and communicating with students about the next steps in their progression, promoting opportunities of interest and organizing review meetings between students and their academic supervisors. The current system of tracking the progress of a PhD student’s life cycle was very manual and maintained poorly, so I used my time in the role to create a cleaner system, and I worked my way through the progress of every single PhD student so that the tracking system was entirely up to date by the time I left UCL.I really enjoyed working for UCL Laws and appreciated the opportunity to work with PhD level students, the only group of law students I had little-to-none- working experience with prior to now. I found the shift of my role as an administrator changing with this group of students: expertise of university systems and being well organized was very important, however working with PhD students (and their academic supervisors) who are all doing something very individual and at different timelines meant that relationships with my students and colleagues became incredibly important and vital to the success of the role. -
Accommodation/Administration ManagerBalliol College, University Of Oxford Jun 2014 - Dec 2014Oxford, United KingdomBalliol College is one of 38 colleges linked to the University of Oxford – all students of Oxford are also members of a college, and most of those students live on site. During my posting at Balliol, I was responsible for overseeing and coordinating accommodation at all 3 Balliol College sites during the summer conference months, and also for planning and coordinating the allocation of rooms for students to live in, and academics to work and teach in, during the academic year. I oversaw the housekeeping operations and managed staff at all 3 Balliol sites. I constantly liaised with students, colleagues, senior members of staff, other colleges, external guests and suppliers to keep administrative processes and the day-to-day operations of the college rolling along smoothly. This position has helped me to further develop my skills in managing staff, making fast yet effective decisions, plan effectively for upcoming events and academic terms, and manage crisis situations without stress. The posting has also helped me to get a foot-hold on how the academic and planning year is structured at the University of Oxford and in the UK in general. -

Student Experience Project Coordinator, Faculty Of LawUnsw Australia Sep 2010 - Jan 2012Sydney, AustraliaUNSW ran a project to improve "the student experience": all the programs & activities each school runs for its students outside of its core degree programs. I was selected to coordinate Law, which included researching all aspects of the student experience & identifying strengths & gaps, & writing a report & accessible database that could be updated as experiences changed.I also targeted weak areas in the Law student experience & improved the administrative systems behind each activity so they would provide a more enriching experience for our students. I focused on:Peer Tutor Program: first year students are buddied up with senior year students for advice on adjusting to law studies, focusing on first year courses & assessments. I added an element to the program which focused on international students of the new Juris Doctor degree, where extremely intelligent & keen international students where gaining admission to the program but then struggled with complex Australian Legal language when they commenced study. This add-on became an elective course available for the international students, available for credit & run by lecturers rather than students.Experiential Learning program: I discovered the administrative system was clunky & inefficient to the point that students & workplaces were not receiving information about places available & application status within the program. Together with the Director of Experiential Learning we rebuilt the program from the ground up, providing better communication to students & participating organisations, fairer recruitment & selection processes for applicants, a revamped learning & reflection element for the students, & building an administrative system that allowed capacity for more organisations to join the program, providing more placements available for our students. As a result of our work, the Faculty created an ongoing position where the staff member is responsible for coordinating the entire work experience program. -
