Since starting my career in the 1980s, I have been involved in a diversity of projects ranging from residential new-builds and in-situ concrete piling to major civils projects, including road and bridge construction (including the Forth Road Bridge, Kingston Bridge, M74, Annan by-pass, Melrose by-pass and Johnstone by-pass), Scottish Water infrastructure works, motorway lane rentals (M40 Stokenchurch to Thame, M4 elevated section at Heathrow Airport and M3/M25 Interchange). I have also undertaken portal frame buildings, hospitals, Glasgow Science Centre, dockyards, flood alleviation projects, private housing, community housing, and groundworks packages with a significant content of streetworks and drainage renewal/reinstatement. I have been involved in these projects in a variety of capacities from engineer to site agent and resident engineer. Most recently my role has been the project management of highway maintenance and upgrade works and major utility diversions, with particular focus on achieving programme targets and ensuring cost constraints are adhered to whilst complying with contract specifications.
