My role as Analytics Manager at WhiteWater is multi-faceted. It involves a combination of working hands-on with Azure Cloud Data tools, performing data model design and development, lots of pair programming with business users, then delivering training and getting feedback to drive the next development cycle. I also serve as the SCRUM Master for the corporate ERP program and facilitator for our corporate Change Management Team. I love the Agile SCRUM framework for the way it helps motivate our team and deliver results for our users. The other aspects of the role include overseeing our Dynamics 365 for Sales system and other custom developed software products. Day-to-day the work varies a lot but the focus is constant: providing a productive and enjoyable software environment and culture that allows our business users to service our customers.

As Business Systems Team Lead my role was to grow and support a suite of sales, project management, and financial software systems for a 500+ employee business. The team grew from three to seven and we conducted three major software implementations: Dynamics 365 for Sales, Microsoft Project Online, and D365 Finance and Operations.

As a Software Developer I initially focused on full-stack development for small-scale business applications. I performed all aspects of the software development life-cycle from strategic planning to development then to driving adoption metrics through evangelism and training. A second major part of the role was analyzing, developing, and administering the Microsoft Dynamics CRM system for a 60 user global sales and pre-sales team.

I was hired as an Estimator despite having next to no construction industry experience and training. My first task was to learn the day-to-day role of an Estimator but my real task was to use my training and experience in databases and statistics to help improve the estimating systems and methodology. It required creativity, learning new technologies and a new industry, gathering and structuring disparate data and communicating and gaining approval from management and other team members to implement change.

My role as a Statistician was to provide database programming and statistical analysis for the implementation of a new Business Survey processing framework. In this role I would read specifications, create the required statistical formulas and then write the database code. This was a great way to get introduced to working on large, complex software projects in a bilingual environment (English and French).
