Aerial Data Service is a Tulsa-area mapping firm that provides geospatial data produced from satellite imagery, from aerial photography, and from LIDAR.In my role at ADS, I had two main roles. First, I developed and maintained a body of 50+ internal production and QA/QC tools housed in ArcGIS add-ins (for both ArcGIS Desktop and Pro) and in QGIS plugins. These tools increased team members' production efficiency and enhanced the quality of the company's deliverables. Languages and APIs used: C#, Visual Basic.Net, Python, ArcObjects SDK, ArcGIS Pro SDK, ArcPy, and PyQGIS. Second, I analyzed aerial and satellite imagery to create and update detailed and highly structured datasets for local and federal government clients using Esri's ArcGIS software. I also collaborated with other geospatial analysts in our department to ensure that features were attributed and portrayed consistently and accurately based on client and internal standards.

Instructional Connections is a Dallas-based company that helps colleges and universities establish and manage a system of online classes.I worked as an Academic Coach for online sections of the U.S. history survey courses taught at the University of Texas at Arlington. I collaborated with other coaches to help students learn standardized course material developed by other instructors, to grade student assignments, and to provide feedback on their work. This position also required me to effectively and efficiently communicate with both a large number of students, and individually, as circumstances required.

I taught the introductory U.S. history courses to classes of various sizes. I was assigned sections with as few as 15 students and and as many as 40. In this position, I developed my own course content (including PowerPoint slides, handouts, and various assignments) and helped students learn that material. I also assisted students, some of them with limited technical ability, in using the college’s online learning management systems to fulfill course requirements and to do things like access course documents, and check their grades.This position taught me how to effectively present information, both technical and non-technical, to learners with different backgrounds, understanding, and learning styles.

I graded student assignments in the introductory U.S. history survey courses (HIST 1311 and 1312), though I was also assigned to an upper division course for one semester (HIST 3319). Each semester I also met with students to resolve concerns and answer questions. As part of my duties, I was also able to lecture on a few different topics about U.S. history.

In this position, I was tasked with reviewing much of the city’s water and sewer pipe GIS data to ensure proper network connectivity and to verify that all features were properly attributed. I frequently had to examine the city’s hardcopy construction drawings to fill in missing attribution, such as elevations, pipe materials, and dates of completion. My work was incorporated into the city’s GIS where it was used by city decision makers and distributed to private engineering firms, both in the form of digital data and hardcopy maps.
