I lead a team of students to work in conjunction with BP on a project looking into the use of electroactive polymers in artificial muscle design. This involved a week placement in the labs at Surrey University and presenting our findings to a panel of judges with a full scientific report. By the end of the project we had developed a working prototype of an actuating artificial muscle strand and a comprehensive report into the feasibility of the use in a human body, and were awarded a Gold Crest award for our efforts.
