Nancy Chapman, MPH, RD has 35 years of experience in policy formulation, program evaluation and management, coalition building, community-based research, and public health communications.. Her firm, N. Chapman Associates, Inc. finds winning solutions for society and clients that have included the American Cancer Society, American Society for Nutrition, American Heart Association, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Department of Health and Human Services, and the DC Department of Health. She also served as Executive Director of the Soyfoods Association of North America and Vice President of the Apple Processors Association. Her policy accomplishments include:• Secured language in the 2020 Dietary Guidelines recognizing dental caries as public health problem and importance of good dental health for older adults • Secured a provision to mandate USDA food consumption data collection in the 2002 farm bill • Secured requirement that school meals meet the Dietary Guidelines in the 1994 Child Nutrition Act • Secured increased appropriations for CDC to continue the NHANES • Secured mandate for Nutrition Education and Training of school personnel in the 1989 Child Nutrition Act • Secured language to require education in the 1990 Nutrition Labeling and Education Act • Secured language to provide premiums to farmers who grow oilseeds that produce oils not requiring hydrogenation for food uses in the 1996 farm bill • Secured language for expedited review of safer pesticides in the 1988 FIFRA Act • Served as editor for the Surgeon General’s Nutrition and Health Report and the Surgeon General’s Workshop on Health Promotion in Aging • Wrote state model legislation to limit use of trans fatty acids in food service operations
