About Nancy Mcdaniel

After taking early retirement after 28 years at Leo Burnett, I now spend my time volunteering (Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Lincoln Park Zoo and The Chicago Saints) as well as traveling to Africa somewhere on safari once or twice a year. Friends say I should not say I am retired but that I "do nothing for pay"; I'm that busy!

    Kenya
    Since 2002, Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, has provided a pivotal role in helping to transform education in Kenya, most significantly in Vihiga County in Western Kenya. Vihiga County, amongst the relatively poorer areas of Kenya, suffered from very limited educational resources, and relatively low educational outcomes. Potential for advancement to higher education was limited. The Kijana Global Innovation School has a capacity of 250 students as of mid-year 2022. Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative, the parent NGO/Non-profit organization is developing a robust financial aid program to serve many of the capable, but underserved youth of the local community as it grows. President James P. Cummings intends to develop the school into the most advanced academic K-12 institution in the three-county region of Kakamega, Siaya, and Vihiga and a model for K-12 educational development worldwide

We call ourselves "think theatre" because of the type of classic - and classy - work we do, e.g. Stoppard, Pinter, Albee, Shaw, etc. I was "founding President" and continue to serve on the Board of Directors and as co-Chair of the Marketing Committee.

Our final show was June 2015. We are now "inactive"​ as we have "retired"​ from our "retirement jobs"
