For many years I’ve had a dual career—one emphasis has been with writing and editing, and the other emphasis has been with the many facets of design.After some years teaching Design I turned my attention to IT and earned a Computer Programming Certificate in Business Applications. I also have training in Project Management. For 12+ years I’ve been a contract Technical Writer for IT departments in a variety of industries, including financial, scientific, telecommunications, technical, and state government. Some contracts have blossomed into permanent positions.For over ten years, I was the IT Technical Writer at Cachet Financial Solutions/Digiliti Money/Urban FT, creating illustrated user guides, release notes, and API documentation, as well as app graphics for customers without in-house creative staff. I'm also conversant in Online Help. I've also completed two contracts with Allina Health; one was rewriting Service Desk knowledge base articles for a new ServiceNow project, and the other was an editing project to migrate their CMS web pages to Sitecore. Most recently I've documented APIs for two companies in the financial services sphere.Additionally, I previously owned and ran a part-time small business as a freelance graphic designer for print and web. I provided layout and design services to those small businesses or individuals needing newsletters, posters, fliers, brochures, e-books, postcards, and direct mail, and I occasionally wrote copy for those clients who requested this service. Additionally, I have designed web sites and landing pages, including the HTML and CSS coding.Software proficiencies include Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Visio, Project—advanced to expert level for most modules, as well as using SharePoint for project documentation), Adobe Creative Cloud modules, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, and Dreamweaver, and Google's GSuite, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and GMail. Style Guides used include the Chicago Manual of Style and Microsoft's Manual of Style for Technical Publications.
