Natalie's work centers around the practice of drama in non-traditional settings for personal, professional, and community development. Internationally, she has trained with the Theatre of the Oppressed group, “Formaat Werkplaats voor Participatief Drama,” affecting legislation in Rotterdam, Netherlands through participatory drama, and she led teachers-in-training at the College of Education in Kigali, Rwanda in using drama to stimulate active learning, collaboration, and dialogue around sexual harassment and domestic workers rights. In fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Applied Theatre to The City University of New York, School of Professional Studies, she completed a thesis on applied theatre as a methodology through which to explore the relationships between identity and values in food justice work. She is also the playwright, director, and producer of "Gunpowder," which sold out the FailSafe Festival in New York City.

Responsibilities included:-Managing the development, implementation, and evaluation of new programs, most recently of which was the U.S. premiere of the Cambodian theatre and circus arts production "See You Yesterday," bringing 22 Cambodians to ArtsEmerson in Boston for a series of performances exploring intergenerational trauma and hope four decades after the Khmer Rouge regime. -Outreach, education, and relationship management for various tours, performances, and workshops;-Developing budgets for all new and proposed projects and overseeing program expenditures;-Acting as a primary point of contact for a network of organizational partners and stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, associate artists, volunteers, partner organizations, film crews, and foundation personnel;-Communications (social media, website, newsletters, press releases, graphic design);-Development: Grant researching, writing, and reporting, and end-of-year fundraising campaign; -Management of tour logistics such as lodging, travel, screenings, and local marketing and communications guidance;-Day-to-day office operations.

Submitted in fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Applied Theatre to The City University of New York, School of Professional Studies:"Roots of our Welcome: A storytelling workshop series exploring food, identity, and place."20 self-selecting participants from across NYC explored the ways in which identity and values impact relationships to food and place. In a 4-session workshop series, participants shared stories of origins, ancestors, cooking, and the complicated relationships that shape our intimate needs to be rooted and free. I examined specifically how values of community, autonomy, and authenticity emerge through storytelling around food justice, and how these values must be honored if we are to prioritize eco-leadership in our communities. I define eco-leadership as the embodied philosophy of leading self and others in accordance with, informed by, and in humble conversation with nature.

"Risk/Reward"Creative Arts Team Junior Youth Theatre: Co-director and facilitator of an original theatre piece co-created with middle school students across New York City, exploring our relationships with risk."Building the World Zoo: Using Participatory Theatre to Bring Math Curriculum to Life"Institute for Collaborative Education: Developed a four-week residency with two 6th grade math classes at the Institute for Collaborative Education in NYC, integrating role-play and embodied learning with Common Core standards for factors, multiples, decimals, and fractions. During a highly competitive process, was accepted to attend the Teaching Artist Training Institute (TATI). TATI provides free training in arts education best practices for individuals interested in working with students on the autism spectrum. Through observational visits and professional development seminars, we learned the fundamentals of autism, pathways of communication, and the therapeutic value of the arts, and developed real lesson plans and techniques to teach the arts to children on the autism spectrum.

Hired as an intern, and rose to salaried position in one year. Managed vendor negotiations, travel itineraries, event logistics, and assisted with artistic programming, strategic communications, international artist coordination, and budget tracking for over $500K annual conference budget. While at TCG, conference registration income rose 74%. Supervised team of over 25 staff, interns, and volunteers for professional development convenings for this leading national nonprofit service organization, including the Fall Forum, designed for executive leadership and trustees, and the National Conference, attended by over 1,100 arts practitioners from across the globe. Events explored emerging trends upending the traditional business models of the nonprofit theatre field, specifically: strategic planning, cultivation of agile board and staff leadership, board-led fundraising, equity, diversity, and inclusion, audience engagement and community development.
