Building upon the work of "Penrynopoly", "Taking Control of my Town" seeks to explore similar areas, aiming to encourage participation in Parish elections in May 2017. Working within a community, we aim to explore what people think about life within the Parish, what works well, what could be improved, what people would like to change, and how these changes might be brought about culminating in the development of a board game that helps to quantify these discussions. The board game will be constructed by community researchers, and be played with members of wider community, including businesses, voluntary organisations and citizens. Our hope is that the game generates important discussions about the nature of local democracy, particularly with the upcoming local and parish elections.

University Of Exeter, Penryn Campus

Commissioned by the Penryn Parish Council, myself and a team of colleagues conducted research on the futures of Penryn, focusing on retaining young people in the area post-education. Working with the local councils, FXU (student's union for Falmouth University and the University of Exeter Penryn Campus) and the local community, we developed a report of concerns and presented our recommendations in the form of a board game; "Penrynopoly". The board game acted as a means of facilitating discussion to form solutions beyond the confines of a simple report, ensuring our research was accessible and engaging for all. This project was featured in an EU Committee of the Regions newsletter and has been submitted to the EU's ALDA LADDER initiative, which seeks to increase citizen engagement and participation with local democracy. Further research is expected to follow in another community this year, as a part of the University of Exeter's Festival of Social Science.

Commissioned by the local council, myself and a team of colleagues conducted research on the use and development of the local library. Collaborating with the council, the local community and student population, we researched use, satisfaction and the possibility for development of services and materials. We presented our results in means of a report to great success, and made a series of recommendations for the council and library staff to contemplate.

Great Marlow School

As Finance Director, I was responsible for keeping track of all ingoing and outgoing expenses as well as creating projections of profits and future expenses. Additionally, I acted Managing Director for 6 weeks when the current Director resigned, meaning I coordinated meetings and acted as a mediator if needed. I was also involved in several sales events and marketing campaigns. Connect was a company created by myself and 7 other students in a year-long programme under the Young Enterprise programme.
