My graduate research studies how to create feminist revisions to transportation planning within Mexico City. As a Master’s student, I expand upon this project with a geospatial component. Under my faculty advisor, I learned how to use QGIS to geographically map cases of sexual assault on the Mexico City metro and to better understand what urban planning.

I was living in Brazil during the summer of 2022 and was engaging in a language immersion program where I studied Portuguese intensively. I took classes through IBEU (a language learning center in Rio), and the program is funded by FLAS (Foreign Language Area Studies) Summer Fellowship. As an undergraduate student at UCI, I produced an honors thesis titled, Gendered Transportation:Problems of Federal Policy in Addressing Sexual Violence in Mexico City. My thesis studied Pink transportation (separate metro cars for women) in Mexico City and its effectiveness in reducing the cases of sexual assault on the metro. My thesis also analyzed.

Under Professor Mark Warschauer, I contributed to his project titled CONECTAR (Collaborative Network of Educators for Computational Thinking for All Research). It is a program that promotes computational thinking for students in grades three through five. The goal is to build connections to a broader curriculum to the language and discourse needed to.

• Collaborated closely with faculty mentor, Dr. Lucía Alvarez -- a professor in the Department of Political Sciences who studies the sociology of urban planning in México City.
• Produced a comprehensive 20 pg. research paper in Spanish regarding the implementation of feminist urban metro and transportation designs to reduce the risk of sexual assault for women while traveling.
• Researched a variety of journal articles and books in Spanish about the sociology of urban spaces.
