Farm To Family encourages eating more fruits and vegetables every day for a healthier diet, while fostering economic development by promoting our state’s diverse agricultural products.My task as a Vista member was to change the way Farm to Family (F2F) benefits are delivered, by creating and implementing a new disbursement system for statewide distribution of F2F benefits, building efficiency and growing the number of farmers markets. I also provided training to recipients, assistance while accessing farmers market produce and throughout the entire year, in understanding how to purchase, store and prepare fresh fruits and vegetables. Even a small amount of additional food has a large effect on a low-income household's ability to reduce food insecurity associated with chronic poverty and I believe food is a human right.
