With the team, built and improved a custom Kafka-backed indexing pipeline to send data into Elasticsearch, allowing for functionality such as mirroring data to multiple destinations, replaying historical data, and zero data loss during Elasticsearch downtime.Designed and built a backpressure system on top of our custom indexing pipeline to automatically rate-limit bursts of traffic to Elasticsearch clusters and prevent cluster downtime.

Managed a company-wide migration of Elasticsearch uses, working with 35 different teams/individuals and moving ~150 Elasticsearch indices to new GDPR-compliant infrastructure without downtime.

Designed and built an extensible metadata layer for our internal team/employee account system.Worked with Recruiting teams to design and build a new feature and UI for our internal team/employee account system that fixed a major pain point in the process of new employee record creation.

I worked directly with the CEO and CTO while there, working mainly on data collection, analysis of the vision systems, and our database system.* Designed and developed a tool that could perform targeted pulls of Instagram and/or Twitter posts based on various metadata (user handle, hashtags, text content, date of posting, etc.). This tool was extremely useful for working with individual companies interested in our services and it was immediately used in client negotiations and pitches.* Compiled a test set of images and benchmarked different versions of the vision system against each other in order to better understand how certain changes to the underlying networks affected performance. Presented the results to the CEO and CTO in time for a critical client meeting.* Researched different database systems as possible alternatives to our existing one, which was experiencing growing pains as our data intake outpaced its capabilities. When the initial 6-month internship ended, I was invited back to work part-time while resuming my full-time studies at Tufts. I continued working at WGBH for 2 more months before leaving to focus more time on school.* Independently developed a number of interactive modules ("Choose Your Own Adventure", "Multiple-choice Quiz", and "Text/Image Annotation") that were used in a web development project for the Annenberg Foundation.* Developed an advanced text/image annotation system for one of the previously mentioned modules, which was powerful enough that separate teams in the department then requested it for use in their own projects.* Developed a play-along website for a WGBH television show in AngularJS. Viewers could open up the website and play an interactive game that used the specific episode they were watching for content.* Worked on a department-wide redesign of a major WGBH brand's site.
