I guide employees through the complex world of qualified benefit plans. Whether it's explaining the difference between a copay and a deductible to a new hire whose diploma is still drying, or signing a new parent up for a Dependent Care FSA after they just got back from our Parental Leave, I get to help people in whatever stage of life they are in.In the morning I might be setting up someone's 401(K), and in the afternoon offering my condolences to someone else while explaining our Bereavement Leave. I also get to help a few highly talented international students navigate the US Immigration system in their attempts to make Pittsburgh their new home. Taking point in running Open Enrollment gives me the opportunity to remind employees of the great benefits we offer at Schell Games, while making sure they actually sign up for those benefits. Coordinating the Schell Games Giving Group allows employees the opportunity to direct some of the company's philanthropic efforts to give back to our community.And of course there are all the compliance things that keep the lights on. EEO-1 reporting, 401(k) plan audits and testing, 1095-C forms, helping accounting run payroll, keeping up with new city, state and federal regulations, and complying with FMLA and ADA.Sometimes my job is literally fun and games. We are a video game studio after all, and occasionally I'll get to help playtest the newest level a hit VR game. Ultimately though, my job is to support 130+ employees (we're growing every year) and remove the obstacles that keep them from being their best creative selves. I provide an initial point of contact for the Human Resources department at one of the largest Blood Bank companies in the United States. On day one for new hires I go over the paperwork and I-9 process for anyone working in the greater Pittsburgh Region. I create their employee IDs, their employee files, and generate a benefit enrollment form. Paperwork for the Chicago office is handled in Illinois, but I key everything for both cities into our HRIS system. Some of my many responsibilities include calendar management, operating the HR side of our Tuition Reimbursement Program, overseeing the Service Award program where employees are recognized for milestone achievements, the bi-annual attendance bonus, the Employee Achievement Awards,as well as assisting with open enrollment. I also organize the job descriptions and assist the Director of Compensation with changes to these descriptions. I further collaborate with the Director of Compensation during market reviews and keying the majority of personnel updates in our HRIS system.
