Received commendation for outstanding work.•Coordinated communications as part of the team managing the implementation of the Wildlife Crime Tech Challenge to find technological solutions for the illegal wildlife trade.Monitoring and Evaluation •Provided training and technical expertise in Uganda and the Philippines as part of USAID’s Measuring Impact (MI) program to train Mission staff and implementing partners to engage in evidence-based adaptive management.•Led monitoring and evaluation workshop for the implementing partners of a $5 million contract. •Performed environmental compliance assessment for a new USAID funding mechanism.Project Management and Program Design•As part of a multi-office team, co-developed a program to conserve biodiversity in the Amazon with the USAID Mission in Brazil.•Implemented the USAID Biodiversity Policy and promoted the integration of biodiversity conservation across sectors, including climate change and economic growth. •Activity manager for the development of an online tool for climate smart biodiversity conservation planning. •Participated in a cost-benefit analysis of USAID-supported community conservancies in Kenya.•Served on the USAID team combating the wildlife poaching and trafficking crisis through work with partners, Missions, and other US government agencies.

•Led project for US Fish and Wildlife Service Endangered Desert Tortoise Monitoring Program in the Mojave Desert. Hired and supervised up to fifteen crew members during two field seasons. Successfully managed a budget of approximately $180,000 and coordinated with federal and state government and non-government partners. •Performed data collection, analysis, and reporting for population monitoring of the threatened San Clemente Island fox. Related work included analysis and revision of fox population monitoring strategies and research related to wildlife health and ecology.•Developed new research and management programs, including the successful award of a $130,000 natural resource assessment contract, and supported existing projects.

Thesis Title: The Role of Anthropogenic Fire and Livestock Grazing in Sustaining Avian Diversity in East African Savannas•Researched the role of traditional pastoralism in shaping current and historic landscape-scale processes and patterns of biodiversity in East African savannas. •Collaborated with landowners and other researchers to develop recommendations for sustainable land use practices beneficial to wildlife and ranching.•Trained and supervised three Kenyan field assistants and advised an undergraduate research assistant in the development of his thesis research.•Disseminated results to private landowners and community members through public meetings and written reports.•Raised more than $40,000 to cover project expenses.

Wildlife Technician, Black-tailed prairie dog relocation project, May - August 2002 •Led crew of three technicians to trap and relocate black-tailed prairie dogs from private to public land. •Created more effective artificial burrows for the project and performed public outreach and education on prairie dog ecology and public health.
