I assisted with 3D cell culture experiments that took advantage of a microfluidic lab-on-a-chip platform developed in the MicroInstruments and Systems Lab under Prof. Rosemary Smith and Prof. Scott Collins. The project entailed simultaneous in vitro ("on-chip") differentiation of myotubes via C2C12 cells and limb motor neurons via mouse ESC’s to explore neuromuscular junction development and circuitry. My involvement in the project focused on troubleshooting the visualization process (fixation, immunohistochemical staining, and microscopy) as well as validating the system to better test biological hypotheses.

As a Maine Learning Assistant, I positively impacted the education of more than 300 undergraduate students across several large introductory chemistry courses. I pushed students to understand abstract concepts, integrate acquired knowledge, and approach problem solving with a strategic and critical mind. I met students where they were in lecture, recitation, and individual help hours.
