About Nathan Ramsey

I am a passionate business leader working with leading organizations in the food and agriculture industry to address society’s evolving demand for producing the food, fiber and energy it needs from a finite global resource base in a sustainable manner. Business building and complex problem solving are the areas where I am best able to apply my diverse background and technical training in engineering, plant sciences and business. Combined with extensive agricultural industry experience, I am able to help translate across different business functions, understand root causes of issues and help frame solutions that enable companies and organizations to grow and be successful. Connecting dots between corporate/market strategy and business operational or functional plans helps bring growth and innovation objectives to life in a complex and increasingly connected food system. I enjoy building teams and business with a focus on corporate, market, business and innovation strategy. Developing people through mentorship, coaching and sharing from my experiences is a passion and some of my greatest sources of pride are watching members of my team grow and be successful. I studied directly under one of the world’s foremost agricultural scientists and gained an immense appreciation for the historical and societal role of agriculture. This experience broadened my perspective on the industry and over the course of my career I have had the good fortune to be exposed to an extraordinary cross-section of the world’s agricultural systems. This has included extensive work in South America as well as market assessments and expert-engagements in Europe and Asia. I have been a part of projects that have spanned the full range of crop and animal agriculture and ranged from aquaculture to kiwi fruit, row crops to vegetables and most things in between. In addition to my professional experience I bring technical training that includes degrees in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Plant Pathology and Business Administration. I also served in capacity as our sector strategy lead and co-led the development of a global sector growth strategy for the Firm.With EY-Parthenon I have been able to further broaden my food & agricultural value chain expertise with concerted efforts and client leadership into the animal protein and meat industry, along with the markets for alternative (plant-based, fermented and cell cultivated) proteins and into the grain handling and processing industries.

In my collective time with Context I was able to work with leading commercial organizations, industry and trade associations, and NGO groups spanning the entire world of agriculture including crop production and consumption markets in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. This included work in row crops, vegetable crops as well as other specialty and permanent crop markets.
