Academic Transition Program Math Instructor
I instructed a 7-week course for prospective Penn State students in introductory mathematics. These topics include: Arithmetic, Algebra, Linear Equations, Geometry, Radical Expressions, and Polynomials.
Research Assistant
I was able to attain two grants for summer undergraduate research, the Behrend Research Fellowship and PSU Erickson Discovery Grant. With this, Dr. Thomas Cameron and I worked to develop arithmetic operations as accurate as if computed in k-fold precision and stored in k-parts. We apply our arithmetic algorithms to dot products, Gaussian Elimination with Partial Pivoting, and iterative refinement for linear systems. Our work continues into the academic year as we hope to publish a paper on our findings. Additionally, this past summer is the base for my Schreyer’s Thesis.
Subject Tutor
I was responsible for tutoring students in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics. I also worked with another tutor to host an Electricity and Magnetism exam preparation session once per week during the spring 2024 semester.
Mathematics Grader
I assisted Dr. Joesph Previte by grading integral calculus (MATH141) homework.
Dcaa Reu Participant
I worked with two other undergraduates and an advisor to construct the Conformable Kalman Filter (CKF). The CKF is an applied mathematics tool that focuses on linear stochastic systems where outside noise causes the system to exhibit erratic behavior. Because the state of the system is not truly known, due to the aforementioned noise, our goal is to construct an observer that allows us to get a close enough approximation of the system’s true state. During this REU, I got to present our research findings at West Virginia State University’s 16th Summer Symposium and to our other undergraduate cohort throughout the summer.Overall, I learned a lot about grant writing, applied math research, presentations, and so much more in the 8 weeks I was at Fairmont State University. It was a privilege to be a part of the 2023 cohort!
Ist Lab Assistant
I worked at the Penn State DuBois IST Lab to create course laboratory material. This includes the network, hardware, and software components required to complete the laboratory. I also assisted in configuring the server-side infrastructure for the IT Club's Video Game Day event.
Peer Tutor
I tutored students in the following subject areas: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Programming, Communications, and Critical Studying Skills necessary to succeed in the classroom.
Computer Technician
During my time at the CCCTC, I managed helpdesk support as well as some server-side management. I, during the academic year, mainly focused on technical repairs on staff-faculty computing systems. The summertime was focused on developing new network services, through the implementation of their respective servers, and deploying operating systems to network nodes. I have also worked on projects relating to cameras, wiring closet organization, and Apple device management.
