Nechan’s personal motto is “Think big. Plan accordingly. Make a difference.”Nechan Naicker is a veteran of technological innovation with 30 years’ experience in the global electronics industry. He served as Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the South Africa Technology Station in Electronics, a Dept of Science & Technology program to promote localization of electronics design and manufacturing. He also served on several Boards of SA technology companies and held senior advisory positions in global electronics bodies including Technical Committee Member of DesignCon USA. Nechan currently serves on an AUDA-Nepad committee to advise African heads of state on next generation batteries. He was a speaker on the topics of Mineral Beneficiation in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at the 2019 Africa Industrialization Week at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa. Most recently, Nechan was a guest speaker at the 2020 Powering Africa Summit in Miami USA as well as a keynote speaker at the 2020 Africa and International Energy Congress. Nechan is the Founder and CEO of The Megamillion Group of Companies. Megamillion is a group company with a strategic intent to “energize Africa for its own future” by creating a champion in the lithium-ion value chain on African soil. Producing lithium-ion battery powders, cathodes, anodes, and batteries in Africa makes business sense, as all the critical minerals used in the batteries such as manganese, cobalt, lithium, graphite, and fluorspar are found in abundant concentrations on the continent. No other continent can boast this. For too long, Africa's has been an extractive economy. Using Africa's rich mineral resources responsibly through local beneficiation gives the continent a huge opportunity to shift to a manufacturing economy. Renewable energy together with affordable battery storage can unlock major potential for African countries to finally obtain reliable, affordable and clean energy to stimulate and support industrial and economic development. This in turn can lead to significant social improvements, poverty alleviation, and a meaningful contribution to reducing Africa’s global-warming footprint. ​Africa's time has come.
