My responsibilities include ensuring patron safety in the weight room, handling of fitness equipment, spotting people when needed, and occasionally giving body composition tests to patrons.

The Special Needs Aquatic Program (SNAP) focuses on exercising and improving the well-being of kids with motor and neurological disorders. As a volunteer, I am responsible for conducting physical therapy for these kids. This physical therapy involves stimulating the children by helping them swim in the water and perform certain exercises. Responsibilities include exercising child’s limbs, engaging with the child emotionally by speaking/singing to them, and ensuring complete safety during the activity. Through these actions, the children are able to gradually develop more mobility in their limbs and develop social skills.

I assist the technicians, nurses, and doctors in the surgical department at Alta Bates to successfully treat and service patients. I have the responsibilities of making various types of gurneys, checking patients in and helping them emotionally and physically prepare for surgery, and transporting patients out of the hospital once they are done with their procedures.

I had a human resources position where I was responsible for screening and processing of volunteers, filing personal documents, and communicating with volunteers about important information pertaining to the hospital volunteer program. In addition, I regularly interviewed prospective volunteers and worked with them on completing steps necessary to permanently volunteer.

I assisted homeless people with a variety of services at various clinics centered in Berkeley. These services included health education, outreach to uninformed populations about our services, caseworking with clients, and a variety of others as well. I served as a source of support for the underserved population and worked to positively improve their physical and mental well-being.

I had the leadership position of measuring client satisfaction and using the feedback to improve our services in partnership with other members of the leadership team. I generated and distributed surveys to clients at the clinics to gauge their satisfaction with our services and observe and analyzed any key trends in our services. In addition, I was in charge, with fellow impact measurement officers, of creating and managing a centralized database where other branches of Suitcase Clinic could input and keep track of their data in one common place.Through this role, I was able to improve and maintain our service quality levels at the highest standards.

I served as an assistant GSI for Biology 1B, a class centered around the topics of evolution, plant biology, and ecology. I had the responsibilities of answering student questions, leading discussions, and helping set up lab activities for students.

I was a research assistant for a UCSF ophthalmology lab located at San Francisco General Hospital. I assisted in projects that explored the effects of MMP8 and MMP 12 in wound healing in addition to a project that also dealt with DNA methylation. I was responsible for PCR, QPCR analysis, DNA extraction, handling some mice procedures, and some protein work

I worked on a project that studied neuronal firing in the prefrontal cerebral cortex in response to certain activities. I was mainly responsible for systematic behavioral training of rats and mice. I ran the computer system that studied the neuron firing in the rodents and recorded data from the experiments.

I assisted nurses in the surgical ward and provided services that included running files down to various offices, distributing food to patients, preparing washing towels for patients, and anything else that nurses needed at the time.
