  • Atos
    Lead Infrastructure Technical Architect
    Atos Oct 2009 - Jun 2012
    London, United Kingdom
I was the lead infrastructure TA on this huge programme worth £43 million, to transform the Ministry of Justices' (MoJ) previously 3 separate infrastructures into one single new domain/infrastructure so the whole organisation could communicate and share information and systems, reducing costs and delays. On completion of this project I received a letter of thanks from MoJ ICT lead thanking me for the hard work put in and the excellent achievement of the programme. The three legacy separate infrastructures, users, systems and services were migrated from over 19 different domains and each with their own individual tooling, standards and legacy operating systems (NT4 to Windows 2003) to a new 35,000 user, 27,000 desktop, 8000 laptops, 14000 printers and 1500 server single domain based on Windows 2008 and Windows XP across 600 sites all over the UK in an IL3 restricted environment. As the lead TA responsible for the overarching design of the end to end solution, the new infrastructure designs and the migration strategy, these large legacy estates were merged together allowing a common working platform and the sharing/roaming of applications and data between, Crown, County and Magistrate Courts as well as head office departments as never before possible. Once the overarching design and commercials were agreed the role moved on to a more delivery focused one. This extended to design approval, governance and implementation where resource constraints existed. For more detail please request my full CV.

Secondly developing the Windows environment account strategy, agreeing server hardware & software standards, developing standard gold builds while being a point of escalation for the Windows support teams for unsolved issues and working with suppliers through to resolution when required. Also analysing the savings virtualisation would make and deploying a Proof of concept Virtualisation platform based on ESX Server 3.5 then upgraded to 4.0 and migrated certain workloads to prove the savings available through Platespin tooling and bespoke scripts.
