After 23 years in the US Army as a Paralegal and a Paratrooper I retired from the Army in 2012 and settled back home in Wisconsin.Since retiring I've bought and sold a handful of properties in three states as part of my company Nelson Business Development. As a social entrepreneur it's equally satisfying to have been a significant part of a wide variety of projects in historic downtown Manitowoc. Nelson Business Development’s offices are located within Manitowoc Trading Company. The trading company sells outstanding local products, helps us promote those products and allows us to create impactful initiatives downtown. I occasionally take on projects with other companies. These projects are relatively short in duration. They are a great way for me to stay sharp on my skills acquired as part of Army Operational Planning Groups and help companies through a variety of challenges. As an Army trained instructor and public speaker; I enjoy speaking to them on leadership, team building and the meaning of service. I’ve run for state office; running for Wisconsin State Assembly in 2012. Against the backdrop of the Wisconsin Recall and having only lived in Manitowoc for 12 days that seemed to some an odd decision. For me however it was a great opportunity to provide a voice of reason to chaos and allowed me to make a positive impact in the community. In 2014 we also looked at making a state senate run. I'm always interested in working with energetic people and creating teams to better our community. Please feel free to contact me however please also understand that do to the large volume of emails and messages I get I'm not able to respond to everyone as quickly as I'd like.
