Intern (International Trade)
During this internship, I had the pleasure to be with International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore), nowEnterprise Singapore (ESG). I had the opportunity to spearhead and develop a new strategy for a project which the division is seeking to embark on. With a mixture of interactions with external interest parties, as well as quantitative and qualitative research on market data, I provided insights to inform future strategies that aim to reinforce Singapore's position as the region's port-of-call for commodity trading. I was also involved in other ad-hoc projects like business matching, business profiling and administrative duties.
Intern (International Relations)
During this internship, I was part of the External Relations Department (ERD), under the International Relations (IR) sub-department. I was tasked to take on a huge role in managing the APEC-EWG 2017 meetings held in Singapore and hosted by EMA. I assisted my directors and EMA as a whole to advance our interests, especially in fronting the image of a HR leader in the energy sector. I was tasked to develop the content for these meetings, before presenting them to our interest-partners in efforts to invite them as speakers during the APEC-EWG 2017 meetings. It was paramount for the meetings to be well-received as it was a primer for Singapore's ASEAN 2018 chairmanship. Together with my directors, we liaised directly with key interest partners like Deloitte and SUNSEAP. Not only were we representing EMA's and Singapore's interests as a whole, we managed to establish partnerships with industry partners for future collaborations.
Intern (Public Policy)
I was with the Ministry of Social & Family Development (MSF) for a total of 3 months as part of their summer internship programme. During this internship, I had the opportunity to be part of the policy making team and was tasked with the evaluation, planning, research and proposal of current or potential social programmes. I had three concurrent projects. The first was a landscape scan of current policies implemented by selected countries before identifying potential policies that can be implemented into Singapore's context. Next, I while evaluating a current social programme that was still in its experimental stages, I identified potential gaps and proposed new changes. These proposals were ultimately well-received and presented to our downstream partners before implementation. Lastly, I researched on materials that may be useful to a new policy initiative and proposed a tentative plan for its implementation. This internship allowed me to develop my research and evaluative skills while contributing back to the society as well.
