With over two decades of experience in teaching English as a second language (ESL) and academic writing, I am an educator and researcher who strives to create and deliver innovative and inclusive curricula that foster students' academic, social, and emotional growth. Currently, I am an Adult Training Specialist contracted by the Navy. My aim is to better serve our military members by equipping customer service agents with the skills needed to solve complex issues and foster a relationship between our sailors and agents. I have a post master's certificate in college teaching from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master's degree in TESOL from Dankook University. I've conducted and published research on literacy, student engagement, and the repeated reading method, and authored children's literature. Some of the projects I have initiated or contributed to include designing and teaching a course on 20th century popular U.S. music, developing and implementing video presentations as a tool for enhancing students' oral and digital skills, and collaborating with other educators and researchers on best practices and strategies for ESL instruction. I am passionate about introducing young learners to the natural world and scientific inquiry, and empowering them to express themselves confidently and creatively.
