Project Name: Scoping research and preparation of background material, including gap analysis to inform Integrated Climate Risk Management (ICRM) Roadmap on Renewable Energy – September to October 2017The objective of this assignment was to inform the development of a context-specific ICRM Roadmap on Renewable Energy, which complies with the following requirements:• Based on the Enhanced Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Framework for energy systems; • Emphasis on an insurance perspective including risk adequate reduction measures; and • Provides an indicative implementation plan.

Development of adaptation to climate change action plan and strategies, and strategies for supply-side and demand-side energy management for CARILEC’s Electric Utility Members.Responsibilities under this project include the development of climate change action plans for four electrical utility companies in the Caribbean which include:› An assessment of the climate change impacts observed within the electricity sector;› A determination of the adaptation measures which can be used to improve the resilience of theutilities' operations;› An identification of the mechanisms which can be used to facilitate the implementation of theadaptation measures;› An assessment of the co-benefits of adopting RE/EE measures with the utilities operations; and,› A climate change adaptation action plan.

The project aims to contribute to the establishment of a regional programme for disaster risk management for the agricultural sector of the Caribbean through the design and implementation of an insurance mechanism to manage weather risk in the agricultural sector.Duties involve providing technical expertise on the impacts of natural hazards to the agricultural sector. Providing risk modelling capabilities and assistance in the design and implementation of a business development plan for the project.

• Compilation of data on the natural hazards which affected the region for each quarter• Interaction with disaster risk reduction personnel in islands impacted by natural hazards to confirm damage sustained as a result of the event (Insurance industry, Meteorological Offices, Disaster Management Offices, Engineers, Ministers of Government etc) • Assessment of the future impact that a specific natural hazard may have on sectors of the Caribbean (e.g. insurance sector) whether or not the event occurred within the region• Use of data to produce hazard maps which illustrate the location of a hazard as it impacted an island(s) (e.g. epicenter of earthquakes, passage of tropical storms and extreme weather events)• Updates on the forecast for the Atlantic Hurricane Season for the respective year and details on probable landfall prior to the start of the season
