Every person deserves an education that empowers them to understand, interact with, and improve the world. In the 21st century, it has become more important than ever before that each person have the skills to effectively communicate with one another, to make decisions and actions that impact the world in a positive way, and to use appropriate technology to enhance their communication and actions. By serving as a teacher and educator, I can enable the next generation to solve problems of the present and the future. I also teach because I enjoy watching a student grow and learn; seeing a student’s knowledge and confidence grow satisfies my personal desire to leave the world a better place.My experiences represent a balance of formal and informal science education. I have taught in a range of settings: a traditional classroom, a specialized mobile science lab, a theater stage, a library, beside a stream and more.
