Desert Bloom Phoenix was an event series designed to bring together the music, art, and technology communities. With a focus on showcasing acts, technologists, and artists who had been overlooked or hadn't found a receptive venue for their creative work, Desert Bloom encouraged cross-pollination and co-operation between disparate creators and subcultures. I sat on the executive committee of the first four Desert Bloom iterations.

Phoenix, Arizona Area

I organized, promoted, and directed the first-ever Phoenix Tour De Coops, a self-guided tour of some of Phoenix's amazing urban poultry setups. I facilitated and managed a volunteer committee of about 8 dedicated people, worked with PPG representatives to develop the concept of the Tour, selected and co-ordinated with the owners of the urban livestock setups, contacted Tour directors from other cities for guidance, and handled marketing and promotion in print, broadcast, and digital realms -- including appearing in TV and radio interviews. The tour was a tremendous success, garnering much press and drawing in several hundred curious visitors, as well as generating considerable funds toward the 2010 Tour. To focus on raising my infant daughter, I left the committee for 2010 in the able hands of member Vicki Normandin.
