At Amazon my core responsibilities were and include, Picking, Amnesty, ICQA (Quality Assurance), Tote Runner, Packing, and Gift Wrap. I started Amazon in March 2021. Going in I knew that I had a long road ahead of me, but I knew and still know I can achieve a lot if I focus and stay positive. As a picker my duties include picking items from a pod and placing them in a tote where they are then sent to the packing department where the items are then sent to customers who ordered the items, The 2nd most important position in my eyes is packing. It's one of if not the most essential job duties we at amazon need to fulfil to make sure our customers are happy and that they receive their items on time. My other duties include Amnesty to ensure that items that have been damaged or lost on the AR floor (Amazon Robotics) is found and sent back into the system for stowers to stow to the pickers, pickers to send to the packaging department and then sent to the ship dock team to send to our customers.

To start off I'd like to say how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to work at FedEx. At FedEx my primary job consisted of unloading trailers on the bay area floor where I would usually spend a half hour to 40 minutes minimum unloading a trailer. On a really good day I could unload a 1,250-piece trailer in a very fast efficient time frame of 22 to 26 min on my own. Unless a trailer had a lot of freight or was a double wide trailer, me and a few other coworkers would unload that trailer. The double wide trailers are the most challenging as these have up to 2,000 to sometimes 2,500 items in said trailer. The most demanding job of its kind was my 2nd position at FedEx which was in the towers. We called this position the tower due to it being at least 15 to 20 ft above the ground floor where the belts were. In the tower I and other coworkers were known as the sorters. We sorted certain freight that need to be sent to different belts where the van line would then stow the freight in the cars (FedEx vans) This job was fast paced as the belt would move at a decent speed of at least 5 mph. From time to time, I would stop the belt also as the belt would jam. I would then use a jam pole to clear any packages that may be stuck on the belt. As I would come in early for my shift 1:30 a.m. or 2:00 a.m. I and other coworkers would meet with our 3 supervisors, and we would stretch before beginning and talk about any concerns we may have as a team. I also was trained in the QA department for quality assurance for a brief period, learning about the ins and outs of what items may have a recall or may need to be replaced/fixed. I decided to leave FedEx in February of 2021 to better start a new career in Bondurant, Iowa at DSM5, Amazon.

At Alorica I learned how to manage customers' accounts and budget timely expenses through merchant's accounts from the business known as American home shield. Working with American Home Shield showed me what it means to be able to work in a timely fashion while managing customers calls. To start off I had such an awesome time speaking to customers and merchants on accounts that needed to be resolved due to either a late payment, unresolved issues with credit cards, promotional offers which were then handed off to the funding department, and helping customers budget their expenses in a timely matter. These calls were inbound and outbound. Depending on the time of day, I would usually gather around 60 to 80 paid accounts. Which starting out was very excellent. The work environment at Alorica was very nice and Im thankful for being able to work for such a well known company.

First off, I'd like to say how thankful I am that I had the opportunity to be in Client Processing. I never realized how much Id learn in the short amount of time that I did. This was a really enjoyable experience and one of the best jobs I have ever had. I still hold Wells Fargo in high regard and respect the opportunity given to me by said company. In Client Processing my job duties included, taking care of merchant's customers' accounts, verifying cli (credit limit increases), managing merchant accounts, promos (promotions) available to them, and helping merchants unlock their accounts. I also had the opportunity to work with the funding department in regard to see if funding was available to certain merchants ie. verifying certain promotions and merchants accounts received through Wells Fargo. While adjusting to the work environment of a very inclusive and diverse community of people within Wells Fargo. I left Wells Fargo for an opportunity to grow at Alorica in West Des Moines that following year.

Spending my time at Walmart was very enjoyable and I learned a lot about taking care of customers. But to me customers were more than just people. Some of them were like family to me. I really miss some of the people I would see during the nights I would unload the trailers and stock shelves. While also working in the backroom and joining the candy department the following months. I was able to see the ins and outs of what merchandise means to Walmart and how important it is to stock shelves while managing the inventory in the backroom. Over time after learning how to micromanage certain items, (chocolate bars, candy, and gum) I requested to join the dairy department to work during the day so I could better help Walmart manage expired milk, yogurt, cheese, and other dairy items.

The Olive Garden was one of if not the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had. Granted I lost a lot of friends years later due to illness of covid 19. One friend I made in particular named Adam passed away to bronchitis sometime after I left the Olive Garden to pursue a career at walmart. He showed me though why I should stay at The Olive Garden to better my skills and make more friends. Adam was a great server and will be missed dearly. The people I worked with showed me what it means to be a family. We all would come together and have a good time and laugh. I learned the meaning of not just teamwork and kindness, but Love. Starting out I joined as a host which was very enjoyable as I would lead the guest, (customer) to their designated seats available i.e., from booking a reservation or based on seating time (a waiting list on the computer) at the front desk. I would take a menu and or crayons and kids menu if they had children with them. Along with silverware, and or a highchair if the guest had children. Within the time frame given depending on seating, my coworkers would trade spots and we would work as a team to seat guest to their assigned booths and or table.

My time at the Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center really grounded me as a person and I am thankful for the time I had there. I learned a lot about how people want to be treated and cared for. I learned the meaning of respect while working with the elderly. I was trained on how to do the residents laundry, clean the bathrooms, wash the sinks, and mop the floors. At lunch time I would clean the lunch tables and mop the floors after the residents were done eating. Depending on the time of day I would then finish vacuuming the main hall and then wipe down windows. The hardest task I had at the Altoona nursing and rehab center was in the laundry department as my job duties were to wash and dry resident's clothes throughout the day. Sometimes I would then take them to the smoking area for them to relax or go outside for the day. This would be for around 15 to 30 minutes usually.

A little after working at Hy-Vee I found an opportunity waiting for me as I took a year off to collect myself mentally and emotionally while looking for a job and or a career. My Mother mentioned to me Fareway was hiring. I wasted no time and put in an application. I was thrilled when I was told I was hired and would be starting that following year. little did I know how well I would do later on and learn all the skills needed to work in a warehouse facility later in the following years. Faraway was a blessing disguise as I learned the meaning of team work, compassion, and loyalty. The skills my managers bill and Eric taught me took me further in life as I learned how to communicate with customers while stocking shelves, using a pallet jack, unloading trailers in the morning, and being taught the importance of inventory management.

Right after graduating from high school at southeast Polk, I had the pleasure of working at Hy-vee in Altoona. I learned how to slice meat in the deli department, and bake cookies, cakes, and bread in the bakery.
