I lead many multiple discipline teams on complex engineering projects. Current challenges include overall design lead on a 12 storey apartment, structural lead on many projects and KR lead on numerous projects. I enjoy dealing with clients and other consultants especially in a fun working environment.

General role involves design management, project management and client communications on projects from inception through to completion. Preparation of proposals for structural section and at times with other sections. Key on-going task is maintaining relationships with clients and partners to gain access to additional work for team. I have developed a strong network of contacts over the last 4 years and continue to focus my efforts on maintaining the relationships that I have built. Below is a small selection of the projects I have been involved in, more project highlights can be provided on request.• The Bill Thode Trust – 412 to 422 St Asaph Street Seismic StrengtheningLead engineer for the seismic assessment of the four commercial and industrial structures. Scope was subsequently extended to including seismic strengthening design and contract management. My role in the latter stages included acting as Engineer to the Contract and liaising with tenants to minimise impact on their occupancy. I provided guidance to a graduate structural engineer to simplify the construction and concentrate the strengthening to areas that would have the least possible impact on the tenants. Construction commences in mid-February.• Crane Distribution – Seismic Assessment of 16 BuildingsLead engineer for the initial seismic assessment of 16 buildings around New Zealand. My role included preparation of templates for the project, review of all deliverables prior to issuing, client liaison and cost control for the project. The client provided very good feedback and I have subsequently prepared a proposal for carrying out further work on the buildings with low seismic capacities.• Christchurch City Council – Cowles Stadium. Internal project manager and client contact for the inspection, repair and strengthening of the above structure following earthquake damage. Lead engineer for the design and construction management of the site stage of the project.

General role involves design management, some project management andclient communications on projects from inception through to completion.• Responsible for managing the concept stage design and the detaileddesign stage of two PFI schools located in London. Managing a team ofaround 4 engineers and 2 to 3 CAD technicians to deliver the project in avery short programme.• Lead engineer on the detailed design of the East and West stands of theBrighton and Hove Football Stadium. Responsible for the delivery of thedesign and documentation of the project as well as coordination withother stand and roof designs as well as other disciplines located in otheroffices around the United Kingdom.• Lead engineer on the detailed design of a pair of 60 storey tower blocksin the London Borough of Ilford. Responsible for the delivery of thedesign and documentation of the towers as well as coordination with thepodium designers and other disciplines.

Relevant experience includes a 7 month site secondment away fromChristchurch to manage the construction of a NZ$14 million Coldstore.My role on this project involved client liaising, answering contractorqueries, issuing contract instructions (in sketch form), weekly projectreporting and ensuring the programme was met. This project was multi-disciplinary and involved ensuring that the construction of the otherdisciplines ran smoothly.• Project management of a NZ$4 million pharmaceutical project located 2hours South of Christchurch. My roles on this project include structuraldesign, civil design, project and contract management, contractor queriesand regular client liaising. The project management of this project hasbeen challenging because I have had to manage the flow of informationbetween contractors, the client, and the Australian based Architect (whoare also designing the electrical and mechanical for the project). Thisproject is multi-disciplinary and another of my roles is ensuring thatconstruction of the other disciplines progresses smoothly.• Commonly involved with assisting to develop graduate engineersworking in our office. This involves managing part of their workload andfeeding design work to them. This also involves assisting them withdesign queries and giving them advice on managing workloads andmanaging contractors.• Areas of specific expertise include Structural design, specificallyseismic design, design of tall wind dominated structures and the designand construction of Coldstore Buildings.
