As a Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student at UC San Diego, my passion lies in tackling and finding solutions for challenging engineering problems. I have hands-on experience in both academic and industry settings, from researching control of high-dimensional nonlinear systems under Dr. Boris Kramer, to analyzing nonlinear vibrations in gas-turbine engines during my internship at Pratt & Whitney. I currently specialize in developing computational methods, so my work lies at the intersection of rigorous theory and practical application. While my current research is in nonlinear model reduction and control at UC San Diego, my background is in engineering mechanics and vibrations, having earned my B.S. and M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Tech. My M.S. thesis focused on non-destructive testing of civil structures. In addition to my technical skills, I have been actively involved in leadership roles, particularly in rocketry. I co-founded and led teams that designed and launched rockets and rocketry payloads at Virginia Tech and worked on a senior design project competing in NASA’s University Student Launch Initiative.With a strong foundation in mechanics, dynamics, and control systems, I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills in the aerospace industry through an internship, contributing to the innovation and development of cutting-edge technologies.

Graduate Research AssistantVirgina Tech Vibrations, Adaptive Structures And Testing Lab May 2019 - Jul 2021Blacksburg, VirginiaDeveloped a non-destructive stress measurement technique for evaluating rail neutral temperature for the Federal Rail Administration. The technique leveraged the stress dependence of dispersive, low-frequency flexural waves in beams. I developed the theory and numerical analysis tools, along with the testing procedure, for a new type of non-destructive stress measuring test, with the project concluding with an in-field test at the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colorado.I also supervised two undergraduate students, one working on a mass-normalized approach to component testing and another student working on developing a prototype vibration device for preventing snow buildup on netted structures.

Payload Subteam Lead, Document EditorEsm Rocketry Aug 2018 - May 2019Blacksburg, VirginiaHelped lead a team of 7 ESM seniors to compete in NASA's University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) competition. We built a Level 2 rocket and UAV payload. As the Payload Subteam Lead, I was responsible for leading the design of the UAV payload, ensuring the payload would survive launch and landing, and ensuring designing the deployment mechanism for the UAV.In addition to my technical role as a subteam leader, I also served as the documentation lead. This involved adhering to NASA's strict report and presentation requirements documenting the technical and safety requirements of our rocket and payload design.
