Major Investiion Team - Homicide

Working within this specialist team, I investigate complex and critical crimes, including murders and threats to life. Gathering intelligence around motives and methods, I employ advanced tactics and techniques, scrutinising data to support the capture of evidence and identification and conviction of serious offenders. I bring a determined and tenacious approach to resolve the most challenging cases, consistently demonstrating innovation and ingenuity.Providing proactive response, I drive intelligence operations to challenge violent crime; conducting numerous surveillance deployments. I ensure adherence to strict legal compliance with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) and exercise full understanding of the Criminal Procedures and Investigatory Powers Act (CPIA), to secure safe arrests and convictions. This role requires exceptional judgement skills and the ability to rapidly assess complex and critical information. Contributing to various investigations simultaneously, I ensure I hold the most current view and detailed knowledge of each investigation. Identifying potential issues and assessing risk, I implement the most effective action to secure positive outcomes and apply advanced analytical skills to offer the most informed view to support the most senior decision making.

I have held various additional specialist roles including:Family Liaison Officer - Within this role I link the murder investigation team with victims’ families, providing family support from the initial crimes and throughout investigations and prosecutions.Disclosure - Serving as a disclosure officer, I liaise with lawyers and barristers, utilising my expertise in the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act, to ensure absolute compliance around the recording, retention and appropriate disclosure of relevant material in criminal investigations in both pre-trial and trial environments.Advanced Exhibits Officer - Dealing with high volumes of exhibits involved in these serious crimes, I apply specialist management and investigative expertise around exhibit components. Exercising a highly focused approach, I work to often pressurised time frames, logging, storing and categorising evidence, often drawn from multiple crime scenes, to maintain evidential integrity and security.Advanced Interviewer - I conduct demanding interviews with both suspects and witnesses, offering a thoughtful and sensitive approach to bereaved families and those under investigation; balancing compassion whilst meeting exacting investigative requirements. Home office Large Major Enquiry System (HOLMES) - Trained to apply this national management system which identifies and prioritises intelligence, I receive, register and check all documentation entering the system during major Investigations. Assessing and identifying the need for fast action, I hold the most up to date investigative view and, working closely with the senior investigating officer, ensure exceptional quality control of evidence. CCTV Officer - I conduct evidence gathering and have identified and located serious offenders by use of innovative tactics and technology to seize, analyse, review and organise extensive CCTV data.

Criminal Investigation Department

Working in a busy and diverse area of London, I held responsibility for investigations, from initial planning and strategy setting, pursuing lines of enquiry and completion of case papers through to presenting evidence at court. I delivered the highest standards of proof to secure convictions and contributed to a range of investigations from burglary to homicide, identifying high harm and prolific offenders through determined intelligence gathering to secure convictions.

Frontline Policing

Building a strong foundation of enquiry, observation and personal interaction, I undertook a range of operational roles, providing immediate response to critical incidents and the management of a wide range of operational activities. I brought a considered approach to this role, demonstrating ability to manage a diversity of issues, influence widely and process information quickly and accurately. I served on a dedicated burglary squad, utilising innovative approaches to gather and develop intelligence to pursue prolific offenders and mitigate serious offending. I was subsequently, selected to move to detective duties having demonstrated an intelligent and competent eye for detail, enquiry and observation.
