Wilson’S Creek National Battlefield

• Serve as the CVA for Wilson's Creek National Battlefield as part of a partnership program between Steward Individual Placements (a Conservation Legacy program) and the National Park Service.• Conduct outreach to community members, scout leaders, area K-12 schools, local colleges/universities, and non-profit organizations that share an interest in volunteering at Wilson's Creek.• Plan, develop, and present outreach programs that pertain to the NPS mission and careers.• Write position descriptions for several volunteer opportunities, including assistance with school programs, front desk responsibilities, and park roving.• Recruited over 10 new recurring volunteers and assisted them through the onboarding process.• Co-led two volunteer orientations for 35 Volunteers-in-Parks.• Provided informal, on-the-job trainings for front desk and trail volunteers while also answering their questions regarding volunteer expectations.• Plan and organize events at Wilson's Creek, including National Junior Ranger Day and Volunteer Open House.• Develop job hazard analyses on the park's volunteer positions, which include instructions on how to respond to weather conditions, wild animals, insects such as ticks and spiders, and confrontational visitors.• Occasionally staff the Visitor Center desk, orient visitors about the park's features, and respond to visitor inquiries about park resources.• Occasionally lead tours in a historic house to school groups and visitors, where I engaged them with open-ended questions, relevant stories about the Ray Family, and their connection to the battle.• Created social media content on the park's Facebook page that include volunteer spotlights from National Volunteer Week, Medal of Honor recipients from the Battle of Wilson's Creek, and event turnouts from Park Day and National Junior Ranger Day.

Fort Monroe National Monument

• Conducted up to 3 daily walking tours on Fort Monroe’s diverse history.• Created social media content for the park on relevant topics. • Developed an original video series on the 1619 African Landing to attract new audiences.• Conducted a historic biking tour to introduce some of Fort Monroe’s hidden gems to participants• Peer reviewed and edited an NPS site bulletin written by another seasonal ranger.• Assisted with park-sponsored events, including the First African Landing Commemoration.• Learned to effectively run a small national park unit with little to no supervision.

Fort Collins, Colorado, United States

• Worked as a student researcher for the Ram Stories: COVID-19 Oral History Project• Conducted oral history interviews to CSU students.• Transcribed student interviews through an editing tool called Descript. • Joined weekly meetings with my research team. • Participated in outreach programs to further recruit prospective interviewees so they can share their individual stories from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vicksburg National Military Park

• Opened and closed the visitor center with other park rangers, staffed the front desk, swore in junior rangers, implemented a pop-up activity to connect soldiers’ stories with visitors, and answered visitors’ questions on the park’s features, history, and hours of operation.

Fort Frederick State Park

• Interpreted the features and history of Fort Frederick, ranging from the French and Indian War to the Civilian Conservation Corps’ renovation of the site in the 1930’s.• Prepared and delivered interpretive programs, including musket firing demonstrations and military kids drill.• Opened and closed the barracks in the fort.• Wore appropriate period clothing while interacting with visitors about the historic resources at the fort.

Lake Accotink Park

• Answered phone calls from visitors seeking information on a number of park services and recreational activities. • Developed and presented a local history program at the park on how water has shaped the landscape at what is now Lake Accotink throughout the park’s history.• Reported incidents and documented them to help make the park safe.• Conducted informal roves to ensure public safety.• Counted park fees at the end of each shift.

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park

• Delivered two different programs about the challenges that John Brown faced in his lifetime, the traits that he exhibited, and how his overall behavior and experiences are relevant to people today.• Staffed the Harpers Ferry Information Center and the family and youth tent to answer visitors’ questions in an enthusiastic manner and introduce children’s activities to them.
