Responsible for the day to day safety of 600 staff and up to 2000 contractors at the UK’s largest power station. This role focused on the implementation and monitoring of preventative measure and engagement will staff and contractors at all levels.Key responsibilities• Provides Leadership for developing Safety, Reliability and Training best practices across all functions optimising internal and external resources and expertise.• Responsible establishing procedures and processes to deliver compliance with UK and EC health and H&S legislation.• Responsible for the management of and continuous improvement of all aspects of the Health, Safety, Process Safety and Reliability.• Responsible for the development of the annual company H&S plan.• A member of the Management team which provides leadership and promotes teamwork across all functions in the production area.

Responsible for the management and continuous improvement of all aspects of the Health, Safety and Contract Services Teams. Provide leadership in establishing procedures and processes to deliver compliance with UK Health and Safety legislation. Provide professional Health and Safety advice, establish and deliver the Health and Safety Audit Plan and the Field Performance Office Audit PlanProvide support in delivering the effective communication of the Weekly Safety Briefing to all staff and the Annual Safety Conference and Supervisory Briefs.Take a lead role for developing and coordinating a 4, 8 and 12 year horizon for the outage activity and development of the outage strategyTake a lead role in developing Project Management best practices across all Production functions and optimising internal and external resources and expertiseResponsible for the stewardship and governance of Project and Modification management systems, and ensuring that procedures are simple and fit for purpose.Providing simple and effective stewardship reports to SHEPIC as requiredWork closely with the HSE to ensure an effective business relationship.Work closely with other managers to ensure safety related systems are simple and practical to operate, and that all training needs are defined, understood, planned and deliveredMaintain safety records to meet legislative and commercial requirementsLead health and safety incident investigation for the Company.Through strong leadership and example, ensure that the Company’s Health and Safety Management Systems are understood at all levels of the organisationThrough strong leadership and influencing skills ensure that adequate levels of resources are assigned to outage work activities across the functions throughout the year, engage employees and contractors in safety issues and set high personal standards through a highly visible, hands-on style

• Monitor, maintain and develop the DRAX Power Station fire policy relating to all matters of fire safety legislation, and specifically the assessment of fire risk, steward Risk Assessment actions to closure• Liaise with the local fire and rescue service on all fire safety and fire response matters • Review all planned modifications to buildings and plant to assess the impact on the existing fire risk assessments• Liaise with all relevant Company and DRAX Power Station staff to continually improve the DRAX Power Station’s fire planning arrangements.• Lead appropriate Emergency event exercises develop scenario based training modules and execute delivery.• Provide guidance and advise to the station in all aspects of rescue and response• Carry out regular reviews of all DRAX Power Station fire safety documentation.• Lead and develop training programmes for DRAX Power Station emergency response teams.• Lead and develop appropriate Fire Safety awareness training modules for all remaining staff• Liaise with the DRAX Power Station emergency response teams and assist the investigation and recording of information on fire events and other emergencies. • Advise and monitor contract managers on the fire precautions which should be specified to contractors.• Monitor the testing and maintenance of fixed and portable fire extinguishers and systems to ensure the required standards are being met.• Analyse and evaluate performance of the fire systems and liaise with Asset Management to develop pro active engineered solutions• Perform the role of designated person for Confined Space Risk Assessment and rescue provision• Audit compliance with DRAX Power Station policies and procedures• Evaluate equipment to be purchased for the Emergency Response Team• Audit external training providers
