As Senior VP for State Fiscal Policy for the last decade, I led a team of 40+ policy researchers, communications professionals, development specialists and field organizers, and I coordinated the nation's premier network of state economic policy organizations. Our work expanded economic opportunity, reduced poverty, advanced racial equity and strengthened democracy by advocating for better state tax, budget, and related policies. I served as a public voice on state fiscal policy issues for the national news media (radio, print, and occasionally television) and an advisor to state and federal policymakers, I expanded our work into new issue areas and new strategies, and I raised tens of millions of dollars from foundations to support the work. I served on CBPP's executive management committee and senior leadership team.
