My role in the NAS (Non-Access Stratum) team, is primarily the ownership and development of the upper Mobility component of the NAS (ABMM), as per 3GPP 23.122 &24.301, which manages and utilises the services provided by the tri-mode (GSM, UMTS, LTE) MM entity for the purposes of registration and network selection. I manage and maintain the ABMM code and architecture to align it with ongoing 3GPP spec updates and release versions (REL 7-11) as well as supporting operator specific requirements (e.g. AT&T RPM).An integral part of the job includes the triage/analysis of run-time logs with the aim of identifying and fixing problems where they exist. This part of the role includes running on target and/or using a windows based module test environment (VS 2010/13) for simulating the GCF tests, reproducing run time logs and verifying fixes or new functionality.

My work is mainly concerned with the translation of customer facing requirements into 'Implementable’ functional specifications which can then be turned into working products.The scope of work covers the definition of the functional behaviour of our TETRA terminals, with particular interest in: • Data (Packet Data and SDS/Status), • Mobility Management, • Air Interface Encryption (both DMO & TMO) • UI design.I designed, and developed SDA which is a data driven UI sub-system within the TETRA UI that allows users to develop their own applicaitons that interact with back end systems without the need for recompilation of the base radio software.In addition to this I am also responsible for generating the functional specifications for the Configuration Management tool (Radio Manager) which is a MS-Windows tool based around a distributed client server architecture.

Started in the Network management team and became Team Leader.Moved to the Test Team and worked on automation tools including writing linux/unix load generating tools and simulators for Switches and Base Stations ending up the Test Tools team.Simoco went into receivership and became Sepura in April 2002.
